The Lottery by Shirley Jackson (1A/B/C)

 

 "The Lottery" is a short story written by Shirley Jackson and published by the New Yorker in 1948. It is one of the most controversial stories published by the magazine and is now considered a classic.

It has been adapted into different formats including a graphic novel.

2016 marks the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl's birth in Cardiff, Wales. Dahl was a British writer famous for books such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or The witches.

Two Short Stories

The Man with the Twisted Lip is one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The story was first published in  December 1891. Doyle ranked "The Man with the Twisted Lip" sixteenth in a list of his nineteen favourite Sherlock Holmes stories.
